Are you suffering from Knee Pain in sandhurst, or fleet?
Thorpes Physiotherapy is here to help!
If you’re living with painful knees, they’re stiff or they ache – it’s very easy to think that it’s just something that comes with age, it’s a bit of “wear and tear”, or that it’s nothing and it’ll go away on its own. If you can’t quite point your finger on why you’re feeling pain in your knees, and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better, you are not alone!
We hear this all the time. In fact, knee pain is one of the most common conditions we see at Thorpes Physiotherapy in Sandhurst and Fleet. The type of pain we see most frequently at the practice is pain behind the kneecap itself which is known as patellofemoral pain. You might be suffering from this if you find going up and downstairs or kneeling a problem, or you have difficulty getting out of a chair.
We often see cartilage problems, which might cause swelling within the knee where pain can radiate outside of the knee and travel down the leg.

Another common problem we see is arthritis. When people hear the term ‘arthritis’ they often have negative connotations associated with the condition. They think they’re ultimately going to need a knee replacement as arthritis is a degenerative disorder so they believe their prognosis will be doom and gloom. The truth is, there is so much that can be done for knee arthritis. While some people do eventually go down the route of surgery, many don’t and have been helped massively with physio.
Whatever the source of the pain, Thorpes Physiotherapy is likely to be able to help you. If you’re suffering from knee pain currently, you are not alone. Most of the clients we see at Thorpes Physiotherapy with knee pain are typically over the age of 40 and have lived with the condition for months or even years before they seek our help.
Our clients are health-conscious and may well have tried many different alternative treatments before coming to us. They may well have googled it, researched the symptoms and come up with a self-diagnosis. They may have followed certain exercises on YouTube, and while some might help initially, most won’t, and regardless the pain remains.

Others have bought leg braces, or they may have gone and visited their GP after a long wait, only for the GP to prescribe painkillers. Those painkillers can help in the short-term, but they don’t get to the root source of the problem. Our health-conscious patients don’t like the idea of taking painkillers, particularly long-term as it can cause health problems down the line.
Our clients may have been told to rest their injury or are referred for NHS physio but are put on a long waiting list. When they finally do see a physio, they may have had a long gap between treatment sessions or may have been given a generic exercise leaflet. Whatever our clients have tried previously, it has not worked. If this sounds like you then we want, you to know that we can help you.
